In the photo above, look back at the days when one of West Berlin’s links with the outside world was the U.S. Military Amateur Radio Service (MARS). In this winter 1969-70 photo, SP5 Alan Higbie is on the air. Today, the sign from the exterior of the hut in the back lots at Andrews Barracks is in the Allied Military Vehicles Association’s collection in Tegel.
